Welcome to Azamor!
Azamor is a boutique, family-owned winery with 142 Hectares in the Alentejo region southeast of Lisbon, widely considered as one of Europe’s most dynamic wine producing regions.
Azamor is located between Borba and Elvas, the estate is marked by one of the highest points in the region, and enjoys spectacular views of Spain. Our main business is producing and marketing wines and the secondary businesses are selling olives and horses.
The vineyard has 4 Portuguese national varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira and 4 international varieties: Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Mouvedre. Its not by chance that the Azamor wines are exceptional quality for such a new project, the grapes are nurtured and carefully tended hand picked, and we consider ourselves to have some of the best viticulture practices in the region.
The company was established in 2003, when the Herdade do Zambujal property was bought. The first part of the winery was built and equipped in 2005 and it was finished in 2007. The winery has state of the art equipment, and our Australian vintage winemakers call it a dream winery.Our Azamor range of wines: Azamor, Selected Vines, Azamor Petit Verdot and Icon d’Azamor reflect the Alentejo region with lots of fruit, but are more elegant and rounder and longer on the pallet than the regions typical wines.
Herdade do Rego Lda, has 118 hectares of which 27 are vineyard, 40 are devoted to a cork and pine forest and the remaining 50 hectares are dedicated to breeding Luistano Horses for dressage.
